Listen to RYE WRITERS

Pamela Buxton, Peter Davey, Bronwen Griffiths & Chris O’Donoghue are some of the talented authors who have chosen to live in and around the town of Rye.

Has the town helped them to develop their skills? Where do they find their inspiration? Have they chosen to write about their known environments? The literary heritage of the town is renowned – have their forebears influenced these four writers and if so, how?

Venue: Methodist Church, Rye DOORS OPEN: 14:30 EVENT STARTS: 15:00 DURATION: 1 hour approx.

THEN make your way to St Mary’s Church for CATHEDRAL 10 MINUTES

Performed by Rye Players, a local amateur dramatics society, who tell a story of medieval intrigue with one man pitted against the might of the Church. It switches between the present day and the time of King John as the struggle unfolds between Bishop and landowner over the building of a cathedral. Is it for the glory of God or the vanity of a man – and have the people been forgotten?
